A wonderful day trip for you which includes a visit to the Borders and enjoy a relaxing train journey on the Borders Railway with a stop in Melrose too. The Borders Railway follows part of a historic railway line that was originally opened between Edinburgh and Hawick in 1849, before being extended to Carlisle. The line, which became known as the Waverley Route, closed in 1969. Work on the new Borders Railway route began in 2013, and was opened by Her Majesty The Queen in September 2015. Board the diesel train at Gorebridge and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Scottish Borders countryside before we disembark at Tweedbank. Join the coach and journey to nearby Melrose and spend some free time exploring the beautiful town nestled in the Borders. Enjoy a High Tea in a local hotel then return home after 4.00pm.
