DUNOON & BENMORE BOTANIC GARDENS

Spend the morning exploring Dunoon today. The town offers stunning views of the Firth of Clyde and is well known as a Scottish favourite seaside resort. Explore the Castle House Museum which was built with parts of the old 11th century castle, Castle Gardens overlooking the Grand Victorian Pier and the shops and restaurants on offer. In the early afternoon we travel to 120 acre Benmore Botanic Gardens. Set at the foot of Beinn Mhor the gardens have an impressive collection of world-famous plants from the Orient to South America, towering redwood trees and over 300 different rhododendrons in full bloom Spring and early Summer. Enjoy your walks through the gardens and the views over Holy Loch and the local wildlife that may come to greet you during your visit.

ISLE OF BUTE & MOUNT STUART

This morning we catch the ferry over to visit one of Scotland’s beautiful small isles and discover all that the Isle of Bute has to offer.  First we travel to the main town of Rothesay where you can explore the lovely Victorian Esplanade with its floral displays and Winter Gardens. Or there is the magnificent moated Rothesay Castle set in the middle of the town dating back to 13th century. The town also offers museums, art galleries and plenty of gift and boutique shops for you to enjoy. We travel onto the neo-gothic mansion house known as Mount Stuart. This jewel in the island is breathtakingly beautiful inside and out with designs inspired by astrology, art and mythology dazzles. See a map of the stars on the ceiling of the Marble Hall. Take the spiral staircase to what is believed to be the world’s first domestic heated swimming pool. This house is filled with inspiring and overwhelming architecture and design beyond its years.

OBAN & INVERARAY

Travel through some of the West Coasts most picturesque scenery today as you journey on the coach to Inveraray and Oban. Inveraray is set on the shores of Loch Fyne and you could visit the many gift shops here, castle or infamous jail. We then travel north to the fishing port of Oban, known as the ‘Seafood Capital of Scotland’. Explore at your leisure here before the coach returns to Dunoon in time for your evening meal in the Selbourne Hotel.
