STEAM TRAIN & HERRIOT COUNTRY

Experience breathtaking scenery as we journey onboard the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway between Whitby and Pickering today. Travel through the  North Yorkshire Moors including Goathland Railway Station, known by many as the setting for Heartbeat and the filming location for the iconic Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. After our journey this morning we have time in the pretty market town of Hemlsey & then on through Herriot Country to Thirsk, home to the famous author and vet James Herriot who penned ‘All Creatures Great and Small’.  Here you could visit his house and surgery, see the car he drove and try your hand at being a vet.  Enjoy time here and the scenic journey back to Whitby through the stunning landscapes of the North Yorkshire Moors.

SCARBOROUGH & BRIDLINGTON

Enjoy a trip to Bridlington this morning where there are two glorious stetches of sand, promenade with cafes galore and you’ll find an array of independent shops and galleries in the Old Town. In the afternoon we travel to Scarborough where you have leisure time. For a lively holiday with all the fun of the fair head to South Bay where you’ll find a bustling beach and lots of amusements. If you prefer the more traditional getaway, stick to the North Bay area where the quieter beach is perfect for rock pooling and you’ll find a miniature railway and the wonderful Peasholm Park.

WHITBY CRUISE & ROBIN HOOD’S BAY

Join the coach this morning for a visit to Robin Hood’s Bay. This picturesque fishing village is on the Heritage Coast and is a vibrant place with cafes, small shops and beautiful sandy beach. Enjoy wandering through its narrow, cobbled streets and alleyways where you can easily imagine the sailors and fishermen, smugglers and press gangs that walked these streets hundreds of years ago.  Whitby is a favourite resort of many, with its ruined Abbey made famous in Bram Stokers Dracula novel. Visit the Captain Cook Memorial Museum or climb the 199 steps to Whitby Abbey with its beautiful ruins towering over the town, wander through the charming streets adorned with boutique shops full of fascinating items and the unique Whitby jet jewellery.  Explore at your leisure before joining the rest of the group at the harbour where you board a cruiser and enjoy sailing the surrounding bay and seeing Whitby from a whole new angle. With the chance of spotting seals and dolphins throughout the Summer months its possibly one of the best experiences to enjoy when in Whitby - along with the fish & chips of course! (Please note our coach will park 5-10 minutes walk from Robin Hoods Bay centre. The incline is steep and not suitable for those with walking difficulties)
