Mon:
Enjoy your journey northwards where you will be welcomed onto the Northlink Ferry departing this evening for the overnight sailing to Lerwick at 1900. Enjoy dinner onboard this evening.
Tues:
This morning after your onboard breakfast, disembark the ship and be joined by your guide as we get ready to explore Shetland. We begin with a small Lerwick tour with a photo stop of the Clickimin Broch and a visit to Fort Charlotte, a fortification built to defend against Dutch & French warships on the 1660’s. We journey towards the Scalloway viewpoint where you can witness the breathtaking views that Shetland has to offer. Our journey continues to the Isles of West Burra & Tondra. Returning to Scalloway you’ll have some time to explore the shops and cafes before our visit the Scalloway Museum. Our journey continues as we travel past Tingwall Loch towards Michaelswood. We’ll take the scenic route via Voe and stop at the views along the way back way back Scalloway to enjoy dinner in the Hotel.
Wed:
After breakfast this morning our guide joins us as we set out to explore the Isles of Yell & Unst. We board the ferry in Toft and cross over to Yell. Travelling along the west coast of the isle you can enjoy the beautiful views along the way. Passing West Sandwick, one of the few settlements in the west of the island, until we reach our next ferry crossing to the Isle of Unst, which is thought to be the first foot-fall of Vikings in the North Atlantic. We have a stop at Muness Castle ruins before a lunch break at Victorias Vintage Tearoom. We visit The Viking Unst Project where you’ll have time to explore here before returning to the mainland through Yell and back to our hotel for our evening meal. (lunch included)
Thurs:
Enjoy a hearty breakfast before joining the coach and exploring the island for your last day in Shetland. We travel south towards Sumburgh to visit the prehistoric Norse settlement of Jarlshof, spanning over 3000 years of history and including longhouses, Iron Age broch and medieval farmhouses. In the afternoon, you’ll have leisure time to enjoy Lerwick before we say farewell to the Shetland Isles and board our ferry back to Aberdeen for our overnight sailing. Dinner is provided on board this evening.
Fri:
Arrive in Aberdeen this morning where you can enjoy a delicious breakfast on board the ferry before the coach disembarks for the journey back home.
