HIGHGROVE GARDENS, TETBURY & CIRENCESTER
After your breakfast this morning join the coach as we visit King Charles & Queen Camilla’s Highgrove Estate and enjoy a guided tour of the gardens. Over the past 40 years the interlinked gardens of Highgrove have blossomed and reflect the King’s artistic nature and imagination. Only open during the Summer months, your tour will be led by one of His Royal Highnesses Garden Guides covering around two miles of beautifully manicured gardens. After time to explore you are invited to enjoy a delicious 2-course set lunch in the Orchard Room Restaurant and visit the Highgrove Shop at the Coronation Pavillion. Next we journey to nearby Tetbury - an important market town for Cotswold wool and yarn during the Middle Ages and today it is better associated with boutique shops, great food, and its Royal Connections. We then travel through the stunning scenery as we visit Cirencester. Known as ‘The Capital of the Cotswolds’ it was once the second largest town in England only to London and remains a lovely market town that is a joy to explore. With an abundance of independent boutique shops in the town centre, you’ll find these tucked away on the pretty side streets and hidden courtyards. Stable & Swan Yard and the Wool Market are particularly charming places to visit.
BOURTON ON THE WATER, STOW ON THE WOLD, CHIPPING NORTON & BURFORD
After your breakfast join your fellow passengers as we take a journey through the beautiful scenery of the Cotswolds with our first stop of the day at Burford. Known as ‘The Gateway to the Cotswolds’ with its traditional stone houses of Tudor and Georgian frontages, we think its arguably one of the prettiest of all English towns. Explore the culinary delights and boutique shops before we then travel to Chipping Norton - a Cotswold market town with plentiful independent shops, antique stores, artisan coffee shops and tearooms. The village boasts some famous neighbours as well including The Beckhams and Princess Beatrice to name just a few. After time here we enjoy a visit to Stow-On-The-Wold where you have time at leisure. Don’t miss a visit to St Edwards Church and the Porch House, claiming to be England’s oldest Inn dating back to 947AD. A short stop away is Bourton-On-The-Water - our final visit of the day. This charming village offers an eclectic mix of shops offering everything from locally made pottery to freshly produced cheeses.
CITY OF BATH
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bath is a stunning Georgian city with exceptional architecture. It’s home to the world-famous Roman Baths. Although you can no longer take a dip in the waters you can soak in the glorious views of the hot springs and the stunning area that surrounds them. Why not sip Bath’s waters in the Pump Room and give your verdict on the taste? With all day to explore, you can wander the cobbled streets of this idyllic city. Make sure you visit Bath Abbey, the Royal Crescent and the spectacular Pulteney Bridge. And why want to pop into the Jane Austen Centre for a spot of regency Afternoon Tea? The day is yours to explore and enjoy this city at your own pace.
Please note: All visitors must bring some form of photographic identification with them - ideally a passport, driving licence, or bus pass (alternatively two utility bills) which will need to be presented at security with their admittance ticket. Mobile phones are not permitted to be used anywhere on the Estate. No photography, binoculars or any form of recording equipment are allowed on the Estate.
All profits from garden tours, The Orchard Restaurant and Highgrove Shop are donated to The King's Foundation which champions a sustainable approach to how we live our lives and build our communities. It runs a diverse programme of education and training for all ages and backgrounds and it regenerates and cares for places where communities thrive and that visitors enjoy.
